Wonderful Weeks

The last couple weeks have been nothing but wonderful.

I went with Mom, Stacia, and Lisa to see the reception hall for Kim's upcoming nuptials. While they discussed the details, I got to play with this kid

I forget how much energy little kids have. After about an hour of playing with Jack, I was way ready to go home and take a nap. Apparently he was tired, too.

That Thursday, I drove my roommate to the airport. Naturally, I stopped by the parentals' on my way back. All of a sudden going home is one of my FAVORITE things to do. I mean, really, who wouldn't want to hang out with these people?

I
Jacob and I made cookies and watched The Cosby Show, and then me, Spence, and the folks went to Bin's opening night Gala. We ate some treats, were lucky enough to see the Bells, and Dad spilled his hot chocolate all over the table. I remember very few moments with my family where there were beverages around and something wasn't spilled.

Friday was the beginning of Shower Weekend. Kim is crazy busy and had only one weekend that she could take work off, so she had three bridal showers in two days. The one on Friday was thrown by Eric's family up in South Jordan. SIL and I met the women of the family at BYU so that we could all ride up together. At one point, Kim called to ask where we were, to which Becca replied, "I think Mom said we're at 1 and 2/3rds?" Haha she's the best. The shower was great, and then on the way back, a blizzard hit! I can't imagine anything more stressful than being in Dedo's car, when she's in the passenger seat, in a snow storm. Talk about ulcers. Don't fret, though, we all made it back to the house just fine.

Saturday morning was the shower that SIL, Kenzie, and I threw for Kim. SIL found the best snack ideas on pinterest that turned out to be really easy to make. Kerri, Amy, Stacia, and Dedo made the most amazing toilet paper wedding dress I've ever seen. Kenzie turned Justin Beiber into Eric, and everyone had to try to "kiss the groom." For the grand finale, Kim had to see how well she knew Eric. Being put on the spot like that kills your memory without fail, so she had a giant mouthful of gum by the end of the game.

The home ward threw Kim another shower on Saturday afternoon. I decided that when I'm 25 and not married, I'm going to have an "I'm 25 and single, but still need housewares" shower. Everyone's welcome to attend. Once that shower was over, we all went to see Bin's play. He's so amazing!

On Sunday we had a party with the Wrights. It's always a treat to get together with that side of the family! We played a running charades game, which is pretty much the best ever. Well, the orange-quarter-pie tin game is better, but only if Dedo's playing.

On Monday I went to Annie's reception, and I got to see Kate and Taylor, Kellie and Steve, and Mama and Papa G! They had the most delicious cake. After the reception, I took Bin to JCW's. You can never go wrong with JCW's.

On Tuesday, I got home from work and began cleaning. I need to do my laundry, because I usually do it on Mondays, but since Monday was busy, i hadn't done it yet. I went kinda crazy and washed everything I could think of...I think I did like 6 or 7 loads. I also cleaned and reorganized my closet, refolded and reorganized all of the clothes in my dresser, dusted everything in my room, cleaned out my kitchen cupboards and the fridge, and separated my produce into serving sizes. I'm so grateful for a mother who taught me to keep things clean!

On Wednesday I hung out with the Bells, and then I spent the rest of the week at home with the fam. We watched movies, got wedding invitations ready to send out, and Dad taught me to play backgammon. Like I said, it was a wonderful few weeks!

  2. I am sooo pleased I made a family picture on you blog! Also, mostly I am super excited to see you in just a few weeks, and maybe when I'm 25 and not married we could also throw me a "I still need housewares shower."

  3. Syd! It's even only like a week and a few days! And yes, if you're 25 and not married (though I think it's unlikely), we'll throw you a shower, too.

Kerri-those pics are actually on my aunt Stacia's camera, but I'll try my best to get them!
