I'm obsessed, and I need to make a disclaimer about it.

My grandma told me the other night that if I wanted to be a worthwhile participant in a conversation, I needed to be prepared to discuss a minimum of 5-7 topics. (I don't remember why she was telling me that. Maybe she decided that I wasn't good enough at talking? I mean, I've never really liked talking to people, it's usually not something I enjoy, so I'm positive I'm not as skilled at conversing as some. Mayhap she recognized that and was trying to motivate me to be better?) Needless to say, she was very disappointed to find out how much I fail at meeting that requirement. I only have one topic that I want to discuss.

Roller derby.

The thing is, I'm totally and completely obsessed with roller derby. It's all I want to talk about, it's all I want to think about, it's all I want to do. That school thing is totally getting in the way (just kidding, Mom, school's neat!). If I could just go skating, watch bouts, read derby rules, and go to derby practice, I think I'd be the happiest kid in the toy store. But, alas, life won't allow me to do that.

I would like to make a disclaimer. If you decide that you want to see me or talk to me in the near future, just know that I'll probably spend the majority of our conversation talking about roller derby. If you're at peace with that, great! If not, I suppose you can join my grandma in the "Emilie is the worst person to converse with" camp, and you can provide me with conversation cards that I can use when I'm with you.
