Moki's Matilda Bear

This was my dog:

I got her for Christmas my junior year of high school, when she was just a newborn puppy. She was just like a baby for the first few weeks. I had to get up in the middle of the night to take her out so she wouldn't pee all over the floor, which resulted in me getting even less sleep than I already was, but it was worth it. My parents would bring her to watch my basketball games. There were several times during the next few years when Millie and I would watch a movie together, sharing a huge bowl of salt-blanketed, overly buttered popcorn, and I'm pretty sure she enjoyed it more than I did. I used to like to drive through Alpine a lot, and Millie loved riding in the car, so I let her come with me a lot. While my parents and siblings went to California over Christmas break my senior year, I hung out in my house, just me and Millie, and all we did for the week were go to basketball practice, watch 24, and go on car rides. Kellie came over and forced me to leave the house, we went to see the Christmas lights at the house with the synchronized music, and I even made them let Mill come with us. In the mornings, she wouldn't let any of the little kids come into my room until I had already left.

Millie was my very best friend for 4 wonderful years. While she was awesome for me, she was kind of a wretch for everybody else. If she got out of the house, it took hours for us to get her to come back. As she's an Australian Shepherd, she liked to herd things, so if anyone was running around, she would nip at their heels and try to round them up. For some reason she hated it when people were holding children. She'd try to bite the feet of whoever was being held.

On the 14th day of December, in the year 2009, Mary let me know that my dog had been given away. I missed her this Christmas break, and I shall miss my dear friend for many years.
