Words, words, words.

I decided to take an English Language class this semester in an attempt to decide if I wanted to study something other than Psychology. It could possibly be one of my favorite classes that I've taken during my college career. Where else could I learn that "tweet" is the word of the year, while "google" is the word of the decade? Or that the word "why" is used approximately 48648 times in British English and approximately 235815 times in American English? Or that the use of the word "swell" peaked in the 1930's, and during that decade it was used on an average of 11.85 times per million words? I'll tell you where else you could learn these things...no where! Only in Elang 273 can you learn the delights that I have been learning. I honestly enjoy going to that class every Tuesday and Thursday morning, even though it is at 8 in the bloody morning. (Just an interesting swirl of knowledge, the word "bloody" shows up 6818 times in British English as opposed to the 7521 times it shows up in American English. Its use peaked in the US during the 1960's, at 39.67 words per million, followed closely by the 1990's, when it was used 39.65 times per million words.)

Ok, maybe I am a huge nerd. What of it?
